Azmaval vs Label Studio
Label Studio is a flexible open-source labelling tool you run yourself. Azmaval is a hosted service that builds the screen from your data and brings reviewers and quality checks with it.
The short version
Label Studio gives you a configurable labelling interface and many data types. You install it, set up users, and bring your own annotators. Its open-source Community edition is free, and its documentation lists review workflows, role-based access and annotator performance dashboards as paid-edition features.
Azmaval starts from your table. You paste a CSV, JSON or a Label Studio export, and the review screen is built from the columns. Reviewer vetting, probation, gold checks, consensus and agreement figures are part of the service, and a private mode lets you review your own data alone.

Where Label Studio is stronger
- More data types and annotation tools, including brush masks and time series.
- A machine learning backend that predicts as you label.
- You can run it on your own servers, which matters for data that must not leave them.
- A large community and years of plugins and examples.
Where Azmaval is stronger
- Nothing to install or configure: the screen comes from your data.
- Quality tooling and review are not a paid add-on.
- Vetted reviewers for languages that large vendors serve poorly.
- A private mode for people labelling their own small dataset.
How to choose
- Choose Label Studio when you need a data type or tool Azmaval lacks, or must self-host.
- Choose Azmaval when you want a labelled dataset quickly, with reviewers and quality checks, without running infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions
Can I move a Label Studio project to Azmaval?
Yes. Paste the JSON export. Azmaval rebuilds the questions and turns existing annotations or predictions into pre-filled suggestions.
Can I move results back?
Yes. Results export as Label Studio tasks, one annotation per reviewer, with a labelling config in XML.
