CSV import and export

Import

The first row must be a header. Azmaval detects the delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe), strips a byte-order mark, and reads quoted cells with commas and line breaks inside them.

It then infers what each column is: short text, long text, number, yes or no, image link, audio link, video link, a list of options, an existing label, or an ID. You can change any guess before the campaign is created, and a live preview shows the real reviewer screen.

A file that works

Here id is kept with the sample but not shown, text is shown to reviewers, and label becomes a hidden column that can pre-fill a suggestion or act as a gold check.

Check before you upload

• Save as UTF-8. Pashto, Persian, Urdu and Arabic text breaks when a spreadsheet saves in a legacy encoding.
• Keep one value per cell. Put a list of options in one cell separated by a pipe, such as ta|tə.
• Use full URLs for images, audio and video, and make sure reviewers' browsers can open them.
• Spreadsheets sometimes turn long numbers and dates into other values. Check IDs in a text editor.

Limits

A paste or upload can hold up to 25 MB and 20,000 rows. The file is imported in chunks of 250 rows with a progress bar, and an interrupted import can be resumed.

Export

Results export as CSV with one row per sample: id, ref, status, the final decision, vote counts, then result, result_agreement and result_n for the answer, then each of your columns. Lists of answers are joined with a pipe, and marks such as spans and boxes are written as JSON text in a cell. A cell that starts with a character spreadsheets read as a formula is prefixed with a quote, so opening an export in Excel does not run anything.
